About Us

Artistic Director - Jeff Bengford
Mr. Bengford has been teaching Theatre at Westmont, and directing our award-winning productions for 24 years (+7 years before that as the after-school Theatre Director). In addition to his theatrical work at Westmont, he also works throughout the year with his fellow theatre teachers in CUHSD to coordinate our annual District TheatreFest, and also serves on the California State Thespian Board. In 2022, he had the honor of being inducted into the California Thespian Hall of Fame.
Mr. B went to Gunderson High School (class of 1981), and spent five years earning college credits at West Valley College. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts from Santa Clara University, and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Directing from UC Davis.
Mr. B is a published playwright, and has directed professionally for TheatreWorks, Sacramento Theatre Company, San Jose City Lights, Shady Shakespeare, and West Valley College. But his proudest accomplishment is being a dad and a husband.
Mr. B believes that theatre develops rich, engaging personalities, changes student’s lives, and inspires audiences.
2022 - 2023 TABS Board
Elections for the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary are held in April each year. If you are interested in running for a board position, please contact us.

President - Elizabeth Ward
Elizabeth has been involved in TABS since 2015, and enjoys working with such an enthusiastic and dedicated group. She and her husband have four Warriors: Charlotte (class of 2019); James (class of '21); Edward (class of '23); William (class of '26), and the whole family appreciates Westmont's outstanding Theatre Arts program. Elizabeth is also a board member with the CUHSD Education Foundation, and has played an active rôle in several CUHSD-wide campaigns and initiatives.
She is looking forward to the challenges that this year will present, and hopes that you will join in the fun!

Secretary - Jodie Topping
This is Jodie’s fourth year of being involved with the Westmont Theatre Arts Program, and third year on the TABS Board. Jodie’s daughter, Kailey, is currently a senior in the program who will graduate with the class of 2023. Her younger son, Cole, will be a future Warrior in the class of 2027.
Jodie has held multiple positions of leadership including PTA President, Vice President and VP of Programs at Marshall Lane. She is also serving her third year as a Board Member of the Los Gatos Saratoga Chapter of the National Charity League. What We Do
Putting on a Westmont production is, well… quite a production! During a normal school year, these are some of the activities where TABS helps.
-
Sewing costumes (from putting on buttons to following a pattern)
-
Publicity – asking our friendly local businesses to display posters and flyers
-
Assisting at the Box Office
-
Concessions for performances – donating items; coordinating volunteers
-
Tech Week meals – donating food and drinks; coordinating meals for our crew and cast
-
Supervising students (the technical theatre students may need to work the odd evening when performers aren’t on stage)
In addition to helping with Westmont productions, TABS also helps with many other department activities. These often include:
-
Driving / chaperoning field trips
-
Providing scholarships for students to attend events
-
Fundraising
-
Purchasing equipment for the theatre department
